What Conditions Can Osteopaths Treat?

One of the most common questions from anyone yet to see an osteo or even someone who has, but only for a specific issue is "What do you/what else do you treat?"

I thought I would put together a simple overview to help answer this question. Osteopathy is a whole body approach that focuses on the musculoskeletal system and how it interacts with the rest of the body and its complex systems. By addressing the underlying causes of pain and discomfort, we aim to help you move freely and feel more balanced, both physically and mentally. Here are some of the most common conditions we manage at our clinic:

Back and Neck Pain

Back and neck pain can arise from a variety of causes, including poor posture, injury, or simply the wear and tear of daily life. Our osteopaths use a range of hands-on techniques to relieve pain, improve mobility, and prevent further strain.

Muscle and Joint Pain

Whether it’s a sore shoulder, aching hips, or stiff knees, we treat muscle and joint pain throughout the body. Our goal is to help you feel stronger and more comfortable in your everyday movements.

TMJ / Jaw Pain

Pain in the jaw or TMJ (temporomandibular joint) can be incredibly uncomfortable and may even cause headaches or ear pain. We use gentle osteopathic techniques to relieve tension in the jaw and surrounding muscles.

Women’s Health, Including Pregnancy and Post-Natal Support

Osteopathy can play a valuable role in women’s health, especially during pregnancy and the post-natal period. We can help ease common pregnancy-related discomforts like back pain, pelvic pain, and sciatica. After giving birth, we provide support to help your body recover and adjust.

Headaches

Many headaches are caused by tension in the neck, shoulders, or upper back. Osteopathic treatment can help relieve this tension, reducing the frequency and intensity of headaches.

Pelvic Pain

Pelvic pain can result from a range of conditions, including pregnancy, injury, or postural issues. Our osteopaths work to relieve this discomfort and restore balance to the pelvic region.

Sporting Injuries

From sprains and strains to muscle imbalances, we commonly treat sports-related injuries. Our aim is to help you recover quickly and safely, while also preventing future injuries.

General Aches, Pains, Niggles, and Stiffness

Sometimes it’s hard to pinpoint the exact cause of discomfort, but general aches and stiffness can be just as disruptive. We take a whole-body approach to address these issues, helping you move more freely and with less pain.

Postural Complaints

Poor posture can lead to pain and tension in various parts of the body. Whether it’s from sitting at a desk all day or carrying small children, we work with you to improve your posture and reduce strain on your muscles and joints.

At Rhythm Health, we’re here to support you at every stage of life, helping you manage pain, restore movement, and get back to the activities you love. If you're experiencing any of these conditions or simply looking for support, our wonderful team of osteopaths are here to help.
